Your motion you wish to raise:
The club to run nets during the season, not necessarily weekly, but instead on a fortnightly or three weekly basis.
Rationale for motion:'I feel this will help the club in several ways -
a) It allows players who are out of form to get net practice, rather than trying to regain form during matches.
b) It gives an opportunity for potential new members to come along and gauge the standard and atmosphere of the club (and vice versa, the club to gauge the standard of potential new members).
c) It would allow the league captain(s) to see whether players playing for the friendly sides are good enough to be considered for promotion to the league team.
d) It would provide an opportunity for players in different sides to meet each other regularly during the season. This would build links with the different teams and also I suppose aid the captains of the various teams as they will not feel guilty about moving players to other sides where they may not know any of the other players (this is certainly something I've had a problem with during 2007!).

Your motion you wish to raise:
That the club considers organising a formal disciplinary committee and process
Rationale for motion:
Historically, when there was one team on a Saturday and one on a Sunday, any players stepping out of line could quickly be reprimanded by one of the senior players and all indiscretions were quickly known about and dealt with, due to the large level of overlap between the two sides.
Now that we have grown such behaviour appears to be a lot harder to manage, as there are many different teams and a much, much larger base of players than ever before, so any sort of cohesive way of keeping tabs on un-Corinthian behaviour has become quite difficult. This season I have seen (or heard of) various incidents with players –
a) Openly disputing umpires' decisions and becoming embroiled in stand up rows with the opposition.
b) Not turning up for games (or pulling out at very short notice).
c) Turning up significantly late for games.
This is not a personal attack on those players who have been involved in the above incidents, but I'm sure as a club we all recognise that such behaviour is disrespectful to both their fellow players, their opposition and the club as a whole. It also reflects badly on our cricket club and is most certainly against the MCCC mission statement

Anyone wishing to qualify for the category of student membership must be a full-time student and provide documentary evidence when paying their membership
- letter from their unversity/college saying that you're a full time student
or
- a photocopy of your student ID / NUS card
Rationale for motion
To faciliate payment of membership as the treasurer has had to follow up with people to provide this information before they can be listed on the members list

Your motion you wish to raise:
To bring the payment of membership fee deadline forward to 31st November.
Rationale for motion:
Last year we had a shortfall of players and so by bringing the date forward it gives the membership and the other officers more notice when doing a recruitment drive how many peolpe we need to recruit for the number of teams we intend to put out. This will mean soon after the AGM we can start making plans.

Your motion you wish to raise:
That the club continues to operate two friendly sides not just throughout the 2008 season, but also for the foreseeable future.
Rationale for motion:
The club was founded as a social club, welcoming players of all abilities and backgrounds. With a reduction in friendly cricket and a corresponding increase in the quantity of league cricket, it is difficult to imagine that this will not lead to a clear shift away from the ideals along which the club was founded. Indeed one of the primary reasons for the creation of MCCC was that the founder members were annoyed at continually having players taken away from them in order to fill up the league teams.
Furthermore, although the friendly sides struggled at times to field two full teams on a Saturday, as the season progressed both teams became more settled and developed their own identities with a reasonably consistent player base for each.
Breaking this up to field a combined 1st and 2nd team in the league, leaving the remaining (presumably weaker) players to compete in friendly matches (against sides we struggled to beat at "full strength" last year) would undo the hard work put in last season by the captains (and players) of those friendly sides.
I therefore feel it is important to retain two friendly sides in future and that any additional league side fielded on a Saturday should be in addition to the current friendly sides, rather than at the expense of one of them'6. Motion Seconder :'Theo Moore, amongst many others.

Your motion you wish to raise:
Incoming or standing or current chairman should state the objectives for the season and if the last chairman should state what was acheived last year. These should be in writing and should be distributed prior to members through email prior to AGM
Rationale for motion:
This will help members at AGM to decide in which Direction a chairman wants to take the club. Also it will help them deciding what the current chairman has acheived in comparison to the promised.

Your motion you wish to raise:
Mixture of Saturday 1st and 2nd in the league.
Rationale for motion:
It is a friendly and social League. It will serve its purpose by keeping the MCCC friendly and social. Also it will take alot of burden off Jim Patel(social secretary). Besides it will provide as measure of providing players to Saturday League Team when required.
Also it will leave the rest of players of the same standard for which it will be easier to find fixtures.
Motion Seconder: Jim Patel
Chairman's note:
To clarify: This motion would mean that we still have 3 saturday teams with two of these teams playing league cricket and the remaining team would continue as a social side. Some of the existing social fixtures we have will have to be cancelled in order to make provision for league cricket

Secret ballet for all the officers including captains and Vice captains at AGM.
Rationale for motion:
We are a big club now and it will stop the awkwardness an open voting system can lead to. Besides it is a good practice which motivates and allows individual to vote for the right person rather than friend.

Your motion you wish to raise:
I'd like to the club to create a new officers position called Cricket Development and Youth Officer.
Rationale for motion:
1. In order for players to improve the cricketting ability someone needs to oversee and arrange initiatives such as coaching, practice and nets.
2. As part of the club commitment to a youth development policy we need to have a dedicated officer looking after this responsibility. Last year it was split amoung several officers.
Responsibilities of new officer
1. Organise net sessions for club
2. Develop a youth plan
3. Organise Youth regular training days in association with local community and RPSC.

Encourages those members who work or personal commitments have impacted the amount of time they had to play cricket in 2007 to have some incentive to join again in 2008

I will not be able to attend the AGM but second all motions submitted by Imran so far - namely - more net sessions + hiring a coach.
Your Name: sayad imran ahmed
Your motion you wish to raise:
we should get more net ptactices prior to the seasons start during the winters.and should arrange for a coach during this training session as just coming in for net sessions wont make any difference untill we as players have someone to look upto and learn from, which not only is good for the teams motivation and moral but will also help us inorder to take our club a step further every year in terms of league games even though we are doing well as a team.we would be more organised and sound technically, and mentally. b)we should try focusing more on specialist, as in positioning the player who suites the best in the slot. eg.trying to mature players according to their capabilities rather than only just given an opportunity to someone who just needs a game and needs to be taken care of. like building up an specialist opening batsman, or an opening pair of bowlers etc. '
Rationale for motion:
well the most obvious rationale ! explanation to have more net sessions and a coach is that the time we spend in the nets are more worth and from where we can learn with every forward moving step that we take as a team not only technically but psychologically.this if done will defenately boost the moral of the players and we would be more deciplined as a team.(not that we are not) it will just bring that extra edge to our club.'

Your motion you wish to raise:
If MCCC teams continue to play at Dundonald Rec on a regular basis, then MCCC to obtain a secure storage facility at this ground in order to store squash/jugs and the second scoreboard.
Rationale for motion:
At present the lack of a scoreboard and the constant trips to the local newsagent to buy more squash each week make MCCC look unprofessional and give off a poor impression on visiting teams who believe they are visiting our ‘home’ ground. Obviously our preference is that we play at Taunton Ave on a regular basis next year, however if this does not come to fruition then there should be a back up plan in place so that problems encountered this year do not resurface.
