Brian's team lost a good game against Reigate Priory on Saturday. A very good fielding and bowling display restricted the opposition to 185, however Morden failed to chase and fell 70 runs short. Girish Patel scored an unbeaten half century, but we lacked enough quality to stick with him and stay up with the rate.

Considering the number of fill in players we had, this was an outstanding team effort to run the opposition comparatively close. Well played lads.

Congratulations to the league team from everyone in the 2nd XI squad.

The League team wrapped up the Title yesterday versus Woking and Mayberry
The eagerly awaited game versus the league leading opposition saw the boys produce a great bowling display to get the opposition out for 114. Despite some early scares which saw the boys at 20-3 we were able to get home in the 20th over and win by 7 wickets thanks to a great 50 from Nick " I is the kiwi Hefner" Hughes and Steve "I love Cricket" Cummings. A great team effort. Well done to the club and our thanks to Skip Gerry and Jim Patel for all of their efforts.

Jason's XI lose against Riverside by 8 wickets at Haydons Road.

Q to be Sunk in the Channel

Through some accidental challenges in the pub, a friend managed to persuade me to swim the channel as a relay with 2 other chums (Q, George, Mel and Robbie). The "Cheyne Gang" was formed and our elite bunch of athletes are scheduled to make the crossing to France in early September (depending on weather conditions). However we are hoping to raise some funds for a charity that is close to our hearts.

Please help out as it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I make it and dont get harpooned or hit by a tanker!!!

Sunday Team updates

The Sunday team has been in very good form in the past few weeks. A good win against Richmond Nomads on July 8th was followed by a superb performance against Godstone on July 15th. Godstone, batting first, were reduced to rubbles and were at 29/7 when the rain gods decided to spare them more blushes. The game eventually got rained out.

July 22nd was a fixture against Merton Cricket Club. We scored 234 off 49 overs thanks to a steady 65 from Imran and a quick fire 50 n.o. by Craig Harper. MCCC won by 102 runs.

Good to see a lot of commitment in the team and the guys enjoying themselves as a unit.

Satish Viswanathan.
P.S: Match reports to follow soon.

Breaking News
The Wye Valley League have awarded Morden Corinthians a win against Working and Maybury after the match was abandoned. Woking were unwilling to play on a pitch where the outfield slightly overlapped with another cricket pitch outfield even though the Morden skipper was willing to bring the boundary in. The groundsman of Raynes Park has said this has never happened before during the last 20 years he has been involved.

Sat 1st XI v NPL Teddington
Lost by 4 wickets

Sat 1sts went down against some great bowling by NPL Teddington, and were well embarrased by some excellent performing colts. A score of 77 is the lowest in 2 years and was about 1/2 of what we needed. The boys were fired up, and made it hard work for NPL that took 35 odd overs and 5 wickets to knock off the target.

Brian's team usurped themselves this Saturday, by losing not once, but twice to Turners Hill!

An excellent bowling performance on a difficult strip restricted Morden to 59, despite a courageous knock from Vivek Sarohia who batted through the innings before being the last man out.

59 was never really enough, but an outstanding bowling display from Richard Wainer gave us early hope, before succumbing by 8 wickets.

Turners Hill then beat Morden by 1 run in a closely contested 11 over "beer game" afterwards.

The 20Twenty Crew fall at the last Hurdle
The crew went dwn by 13 runs int he final last night. Chasing 146 to win Morden could only reach 133-9. Unlucky lads although some controversy put a slight damper on things. Congrats to Whytleaf. Thanks to Jim for all his effort and to Steve O, Grahmae, Lindy and Mike for supporting

Brian's team stumbled to another defeat on Saturday as Cuddington Casuals ran riot. Despite starting well and reducing the oppo to 20-2, MCCC failed to capitalise and paid the price for dropping catches as their remaining opener went on to score exactly 150. Cuddington finished on 257 and Morden were never really in the hunt after losing a couple of early wickets and closed on 119-9.

Never mind boys, there's always next week!

Sat 1st Win V BK XI

Jason Ware led his team to a 170 run win against BK XI (Though there were 2 short!). Looking to make up for the loss earlier in the season the boys batted well with Gareth and Saad Anwar scoring great half centurys. Morden posting 248. The bowling was good with Jim " Rockstar" paine picking up 3 sticks. BK XI were all out for 79 although they were down to 8 players due to an unfortunate injury to the skip Max. We wish you a speedy recovery Max.

Great win boys. Match report now available (Thanks Jim P)

Morden into Final

The 20Twenty Crew are through to the Final of The Godstone Tournamanet after a 4 wicket win. The game was tight and difficult considering the mud we played in. The boys bowled very well and had the oppo out for 87. Batting was difficult but we managed to edge home with two overs to spare thanks to Nick "Hefner" Hughes, Steve " bedhead" Cummings, Brian" gazelle" D, Roy" campfire" C and Gerry "quick singles are not my Style" C. Final is next wednesday if anyone is keen to come watch.
