Brian's team made a start to their season on Saturday and went down by 44 runs in a keenly contested encounter against Churchleigh CC.

This was our first visit to Churchleigh and we very much hope to return next season. The game was played in an excellent atmosphere and their ground is magnificent. We wish them all the best for the new season.

Match report to follow. MCCC's resident "Chuckle Brothers" should look away now...

Saturday 1st XI vs Peckham Rye (28/04/2007 - Away)
Lost!!

After a decent total (185) on an in-decent wicket, with a ground that looked like it was setup by the school for the blind, we were single handedly destroyed by the Peckham Rye captain, whom hit some of the biggest six's in recorded history, surpassing Roy Capitao's six's by a country mile! Once he retired with the score on 125/1 after 12, the game was pretty much over. The rest of the oppo were about average, but the damage has been done and the we were beaten by an individual rather than a team. Mark B scored his first 50 in recorded memory and decided to get himself out so he could phone AJ to rub it in....

Match Report follows here

P.S - Congrats to our very Own Simon Watt that ran the London Marathon in a barely respectable 3hrs 11 mins. Fantastic effort mate!!!!

MCCC Sat 1st XI vs Netherne CC
Netherne won by 3 wickets

In a hard fought early season opener on an unusually desert like wicket, exhibiting variable bounce, MCCC went down against Netherne, making it 0 for 3 in 2 years. This is a tough fixture against last years league winners whom play in the spirit of the game. Azza, has been preparing his marathon match report since last year, thank goodness it went to plan, pity he couldnt replicate the same effort in his innings this weekend.

If Carlsberg made match reports they would write it like this...

The 2007 Season is underway!!!

Crossbats played MCCC Saturday 1st's on a stinking hot summers day to start the season. There were some key performances by some new joiners as well as some familiar faces. A few of the league players got involved and our team (made up of 2x Kiwi, 4x South Africans, 5 English players to set the record straight) set a great total of 285/9 off 40 overs. Crossbats replied by scoring 89 runs off the bat and were gifted a staggering 54 extras (140 odd total) for 9 in 35 overs. We play Crossbats again in May and Im sure it will be an interesting stuggle.

Andy Allan 4-15
Jason captains MCCC to a strong opening win of the season at Crossbats. Highlights were 4 wickets for Andy Allan and half Centuries by Jason Howarth and Azam Malik.

This is the second time we've beaten them in the last 12 years. Check out the Oppo's match report - sour grapes or some good friendly banter? - you decide
