A quick visit down to Raynes Park Rec today showed no play going on. Initial reports looked like the oppo couldn't get the team together. This is always a bit disappointing especially since it's such short notice where by we can't invite anyone else to come and play at our home ground. Oh well these things happen.

This weeks Saturday game for Vivek's XI is now against Epsom Methodists. Old Ruts were unable to raise a full team. Epsom Methodists play at Gibralta Rec in Ewell. We play them twice more this year and we are hoping to give them a better game than on the last occasion where we lost by 10 wickets.

Vivek's Saturday team got their first win of the 2006 season despite having 10 men, overcoming Woldingham Village CC. It was a great days cricket with some nice weather and we enjoyed the hospitality shown by our hosts who played the game in good spirits. We looked forward to playing them again. Woldingham is in a very picturesque part of Surrey. The win was down to very good all round team performance.

Quote of the day
"If I'm honest, I'm tired out."
Shane Warne after taking 7 for 99 against Middlesex on Friday. While those who back claims that player burnout is a major issue assumed this was more ammunition for them, Sunday newspapers claimed that Warne had spent the previous night otherwise engaged with two 25-year-old models

Well it was a damp squib for Vivek's Saturday team down at Abbey Rec. Morden Corinthians 2nds were bowled out for 84 runs on a very spongy pitch. Some excellent bowling from Brian Clifford and Chirag Patel managed to get MCCC back into the game but it was all a bit too late. MCCC lost by 6 wickets in the end.
