Not much has been happening over the last week or so. We still have 1 fixture remaining to be filled - Saturday 10 June - A game for the Saturday 2nd XI. The Club chairman is going to schedule a meeting shortly for the club officers to discuss various aspects of admin for 2006.

The membership drive has been going well so far with quite a few enquires from interested players. We hope to see as many new faces at nets as possible this year.

Only one fixture slot is now unfilled - Saturday 10 June 2006 for the Saturday XI. All other teams have a complete fixture list.

This year should be an interesting year in terms of how we operate the two Saturday teams. Their are feelings amongst players that we shouldn't necessarily differentiate between a 1st and 2nd team in terms of ability. Moreover strength of the sides need to be tailored towards the opposition each week. How selection actually evolves is not completely set in stone at this time. The club officers will be meeting shortly to finalise aspects of club administration and this point may well be discussed. Whatever the outcome it is important to remember the Club's roots and MCCC philosophy. The last thing we should do is to create a similar situation that happened back in the days where we existed as Morden Cricket Club's third XI. Those were unhappy times but several years since the formation of Morden Corinthians we've achieved a great deal as a club. One just has to look at the diversity of our player base to see our wide appeal. Let's see what happens but one thing for sure 2006 will be another interesting season.
