Re: Annual Dinner, 11 December 2004

We all agreed that the Kelong Restaurant in the Win Yip Centre is a GO.

The proposed date and time for the annual dinner is: 11 December 2004 at 7:30pm, so I would like all those interested in attending to confirm the actual number of people that will be in their group for the evening by the 29 November 2004.

To confirm, the set price for the buffet will be £21.50 for adults and £10.75 for children under the age of 10, and the deposit of £5 per head is required at the time of booking. ‘No shows’ will need to pay the deposit back to the club.

I am sure that you will agree that a social evening takes a lot of time and effort to plan, but this arduous task can only be pulled off if we all show a professional team spirit.

TEAM =

* sports group forming side in sports competition: a group of people forming one side in a sports competition.

* Co-operatively functioning group: a number of people organised to function co-operatively as a group.

FUN =

* Pleasure: pleasure that results from using or experiencing something.

* Source of pleasure: something that gives pleasure.

We may all lead different lifestyles, but off the pitch we do not have to be so shallow minded. We can all be winners, so come along and enjoy.

MCCC GOLF DAY

Firstly, a huge thank you to Robin Hardwick for organising the day. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended.

Sadly, Rajesh missed the match due to irregularities in the wording of the last email directing us to the ground.

The teams were decided on not so much as to which side we dressed on but on how our balls had dropped.

Robin and Ali complemented each other well, each scoring heavily when the other did not. Ali had prepared for the match by going out the night before and drinking heavily till about two in the morning. Robin on the other hand, who obviously was not going to take things seriously, had a lesson the day before and bought himself a new set of ‘Ping’ irons.

The big upset of the day was when the relatively high handicap team of Ali and Robin overhauled the marginally lower handicap team Mark B. and Steve H. returning scores of 43 points to 37 points.

The trophies were duly awarded to the winning pair of Robin and Ali, but there was a third. The ‘Bum Hole’ Trophy awarded for the worst score on any one hole. Mark and Steve narrowly missed out on the honours again as this too was won by Ali recording a 9 on the par 5, 5th hole.

Thanks again Robin and we look forward to next years match, which I am sure, will be better attended.

Reported by Steve Herat.
