Chairman's Blog

I went over to pick up the 1st team bag from Graham 'Scoreboard Please' Pinkney so I could do a kit aduit. The bag weighed a ton. The audit didn't start too well, as I started to unzip the bag the zip puller came away in my hand! All expected kit was acounted for although much had seen better days. The 1st team bag needs a set of leg pads, a bat and pair of gloves. I'll give Jim a call tomorrow to instruct him accordingly. I have already recieved a kit audit from Ewan Cotter for the Saturday 2nds bag whilst I am still waiting for Tush to advise on the Sunday kit bag.

I had a chat today with Majid about memberships recieved. So far we have got 25 memberships. Given we've moved the deadline date forward this year, as per the AGM, this is pretty good going. Brian Clifford in his new role as membership secretary has already started recruitment efforts. It's hard to estimate exactly how many players we need this year with the introduction of a new league team. Last year we had 52 or so players and during some weeks we still struggled to get a full side out. Brian Clifford had to call on his friends to help make out the numbers for the 2nds. I hope to see some of them back this year playing for us throughout the season.

The fixtures have pretty much now been sorted by Jim. There's only 3 fixtures remaining to be filled for the Saturday 2nds. We are still waiting to hear whether we get our pitch allocation as expected. There are a number of decent wickets on Merton rec grounds so it's not going to be too much of an issue whatever happens.

The wife is now instructing me to get off the computer... Until next time..
