RIVERSIDE MELTS UNDER PRESSURE UP AS MCCC TRIUMPH
Andrews team won by 2 runs in an absolute thriller on a batsman's pitch (well technically a slightly more lawnmown area thatn the outfield) at Alexndra Rec. Defending 273 thanks to an outstanding 127 from Jason Borea, MCCC looked dead and buried with the strong oppo on 230-2 off of 33 overs and the oppo players packing the kit bag in anticapation of the 2 batsman carrying them home( they were on 122 and 45) to the win. However the MCCC boys did not lie down and the beggining of a fantastic team fightback began. Wickets tumbeled, bodies were put on the line and the sledging increased to match the oppo's chirps. The oppo were 262-8 going into the last over and had become very silent thanks to the boys fielding , bowling and sledging like men possesed. So the oppod were left needing 12 for the win and 11 to tie. Some great fielding and at the death bowling by Steve O saw the boys home by 2 ( despiter the penultimate ball being hit for 6). Well done boys, fantastic game, and fatastic effort. MCCC also set a record for UK Council ground cricket by having a bowler warned by the umpire for running on the pitch ( technically the pitch and outfield looked the same and a herd of buffalo running on the pitch would not have made a difference to thew way it played)
