I am very grateful to all of the Club Officers of 2004, especially for their valued support and assistance that they have given me during the course of the season.

Our Captains Andy (Saturday) and Charlie (Sunday) have led us admirably on and off the field of play with bags of energy, motivation, and commitment to the Corinthian spirit, which is embodied within our mission statement. Our vice-skips David, Viv and Brian are also to be commended in their role, as each ably stepped in with seamless ease, when the need arose, to lead the team with vigour.

On the admin side my thanks to Steve V, Majid, Imran and Penny for their much-valued assistance. Majid’s bereavement for his father has understandably kept him away, and we expect to catch up with him at the Club’s annual dinner in November. A card of condolence, on behalf of the Club, was sent to Majid and his family.

I have to say that Jim has taken to the role of Fixture Secretary like a shop-keeper takes to everything marked half-price at the cash ‘n’ carry. Jim will finalise the accounts in the absence of Majid. Huge thanks to Jim as well for all his behind-the-scene support that he has given to me and to the Club as a whole. My thanks also to Tony for his diligent work in recording the stats, each and every week and making sense of it all.

The support of Keith and Brian in their undertaking of the two new Secretarial posts – Social and Membership, respectively, were immensely helpful to the Club’s admin and progress.

Although we had to abandon the home ground experiment at Greenacres, Warlingham, it was certainly worth giving it a try. However, we quickly moved forward to arrange a new home ground at Raynes Park. We are now planning a total of 14 home games in the 2005 season.

How we did in 2004 – our goals and achievements – in brief:

? New (more local) home ground, with club house and bar facility
? New social event, namely the barbecue
? More new clubs added to our fixtures
? New role and responsibility of Social and Membership secretaries
? Better process for follow-up and support of new players joining us
? New, fine-tuned team selection process
? New categories added in order to further improve the scope of our stats
? New look to website, having just invested in properly hosted service
? Improved and simplified the submission of match reports (see new form on website)

In closing, there are more challenges ahead, and together we will, of course, meet them in the best tradition of our Corinthian spirit, aiming high to grow and to ensure the future of our Club’s future.

I extend my gratitude to all of our Officers and players for their support that they have given to me and to Club, which has together contributed to another successful season – and with a few more wins for us all to shout about as well. It’s good to know and share in the experience that our officers and regular players all played a part in moving the Club forward. Enjoy the break…

Kind regards
